Connecting the dots that build your experience.
strategy • usability • look + feel
The building blocks (or dots) of good design:
Listen
The first step in my process, is perhaps the most crucial to ensuring a project goes well. I like to start out with a good conversation. Find out what a client is thinking. Build rapport. I view stakeholders as my design partners, so hearing them, really hearing them is an important first step.
Discover & analyze
Next, I go on on a fact-finding mission to learn all I can about the client and their business. Then I look at existing analytics and research as well as what the competition is doing. This is the legwork that gets the gears turning. Then, voila! Ideas begin to form.
design
I would say this is the fun part, but truth be told, it’s all the fun part. During this phase I begin wireframing and exploring options. Once iterations are complete, I move on to the testing phase.
Test & iterate
Next up, the feedback loop. Testing the ideas to see if they hold water, and where the holes need to be plugged.
Launch & measure
You can’t just kick the birdie from the nest and expect it to fly. You have to pay attention, see if you’re master plan is working. Adjust where necessary.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
